WELCOME TO MY DAYHOME. A home away from home for children 18 months to 6 years to feel loved, secure and safe. My name is Jan Maxfield, I have been a child care provider of 15 years. I am a qualified dayhome provider located in the Edmonton area, Alberta Canada.
I enjoy the company of young children. I love watching them grow and learn. The dayhome children are an extended part of my own family. They are loved, nurtured and cared for as though they were my own. I offer many indoor and outdoor activities for their enjoyment.

 I have Been a childcare provider for 15 years, but have been looking after children since my teens. I’ve been married to my husband for 6 years and together for 9. Together with our 5 children we are One Big Happy Family. My family is very supportive and helpful to my day home needs.
While attending High School and earning credits to graduate I was placed in a local elementary school, acting as a Teacher Aid for special needs children. From that experience I knew I wanted to work with young children for my career. Once I had children of my own, I wanted to stay at home and watch them grow without having to work outside my home. In September 1988, I opened my home for families and their children from child care. I’ve been going strong since.
I am trained in First Aid and CPR. This is updated every three years. I am certified in my level one of daycare and plan to continue to earn my levels two and three.

All About My Dayhome
I am a Qualified Dayhome Provider...I provide a fun, safe, loving, and smoke free environment. My dayhome area is in my rec room of my home. The dayhome area has a t.v. area, large craft table, centres, and a washroom close by. I have a fenced back yard with a jungle gym and many toys for enjoyment. 
Nutritious meals and snack are provided. Car seats, booster seats, sleeping gear such as mats, pillows and blankets for nap time are also provided. Any special diets that are required, I ask the parents to have them brought to my house prepared and ready to eat.

Preschool Program
Many indoor and outdoor activities are offered to stimulate the children. I believe children learn through play. Indoor activities include such things as: arts and crafts, singing, dancing to music, dramatic play, show and tell, and finger play. Weekly and monthly themes are provided as well. Out door  activities include: walks to parks, swimming, play gym, field trips, and library time. Swimming and play gym are rotated weekly, while library time is every Friday from September- June.
We celebrate all holidays and children's birthdays with special parties. Depending on the occasion, I will have the children dress for that occasion.

Daily Schedule
6:00.-8:30 - arrival and breakfast
9:00-9:30 - circle time
9:30-11:30 - outings and a.m. snack
12:00-1:00 - lunch
1:00-3:00 - nap time/quiet time
3:00-3:30 - p.m. snack
3:30-4:30 - craft/free play
4:30-5:00 - enrichment activity
5:00-5:30 - departure
Schedules may vary from day to day depending on the childrens needs.

I have been a member of Positive Providers Online since July 2003. PPO is a support group for providers all around the world. I have found PPO to be a very informative and supportive for me. I have met many wonderful, fun-loving providers who I have a special bond with. I am honored to be part of their group. I would like to thank Laura for a wonderful job at putting my web page together and for providing a place that I can call home.
